Set in Uyo between late 2008 and early 2009, Two Left Legs tells the heart-wrenching story of Ijente Ichen, a fourteen-year-old boy grappling with poor grades and family trauma. Ensconced between his uncle’s infinite love and his aunt’s brazen cruelty, Ijente finds himself struggling for survival in a world seemingly designed to get him. A brief trip to his mother’s house during the Christmas holiday reveals a new side of the family tree which he had no idea about, foretelling the respite he will later be offered when his mother finally introduces him to his father. However, when Ijente finds himself trapped in the church opposite their house soon afterwards, it becomes clear soon afterwards that his life will never be the same again, despite the improvement in his grades.
